Businesses live or die on their marketing; doesn’t matter if you offer physics tuition, or custom-made maps, you have to market properly. Of course, this means that anyone who starts a business needs to know a bit about marketing.
Even educators and tutors need someone to help them learn, which is why we’ve put together this little list of ways to market a tutoring business. It’s not foolproof, mind you, but it’s a solid start; some things can only really be taught by experience.
Start off with something a bit more familiar. If you’re running a physics tuition business, then talk about physics. Blog about things that you’re well-versed in to establish yourself and your brand as a reliable name, while also boosting your organic search rankings.
Remember that Google loves high-quality blog content, so being interesting while also being informative is pretty much a must. It’s also a good chance to get some e-mail addresses from visitors with the use of opt-in solutions, though that might be a bit contentious.
Write up helpful e-guides and e-books
In case it isn’t clear by now, one of the best ways to market a business is to prove yourself an expert on the field by publishing material. E-guides and e-books are some of the best ways to establish your expertise, on top of providing useful information to potential clientele.
E-guides are more informational and direct, like an admissions guide for a university. E-books are more demanding, but it can also allow for profits. You can also distribute both (parts only for the book) to interested parties in exchange for some contact information and e-mails.
Provide free diagnostic tests
Provide diagnostic multiple-choice tests so people get an idea of how much tutoring they need. It’s also a good way to show your expertise about your topic and specialty (again). Compliment it with a web form to get names and e-mails, which can then be used for future promotions.
Promote yourself on YouTube
YouTube is the second most popular search engine in the world, with more than 3 billion searches. That’s more than Bing, Yahoo, Ask, and AOL combined.
Needless to say, it’s a good idea to have a marketing video or a full campaign on YouTube to give people a good idea of what you and your brand is about.
